This is already the third fatal accident of swimming on the Upper Rhine – in a week. On Friday, a 38-year-old man tried to swim across the Rhine and apparently underestimated the flow.
Waldshut-Tiengen – A 38-year-old swimmer was killed in an attempt to swim across the Rhine. According to the police, the man living in Switzerland had tried to cross the river on the Swiss side. It is obvious that the forces left him in the middle of the river and he threatened to disappear.
Several young people on the German side rushed to help him and took him out of the water. On the bank near Murg, the 38-year-old man was first resuscitated and taken to hospital, but died there early Saturday.
Apparently, he had misjudged the flow of the Rhine and his own skills, the police said. It's already the third deadly swimming accident in the Wasserschutzpolizei Vogelgrun / Kehl region on the Upper Rhine / Rhine this week.
