Valsartan from Mylan Laboratories Limited can not be used for the production of drugs containing valsartan until further notice. The "Deutsche Apotheker Zeitung" referred to this in the context of a communication from the European Medicines Agency.

Reminder: these drugs are affected by Mylan

Impurities containing N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA) were detected in lots of valsartan from the manufacturer. The substance is suspected of causing cancer. According to the announcement of the company, the following products and lots are concerned:

    28, 56 and 98 film-coated tablets

Do not stop the treatment abruptly

The European Medicines Agency, which oversees drug safety in Europe, notes in a statement that there is no immediate risk for patients. As with previous NDMA or NDEA findings, patients are at greater risk of abruptly discontinuing treatment. You should rather contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Mylan has not been affected by the recall of many products containing valsartan this summer due to contamination with the potentially carcinogenic substance N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA). Health authorities throughout Europe have withdrawn various preparations from the market since early July. In addition, lots of a hypotensive drug with an associated drug (Irbesartan) have been recalled as a precaution.
