Superbike World Championship
of Kay Hettich – 27.11.2018 18:01
While Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki) led the timesheets with confidence until the end of the second round of the World Superbike World Championship in Jerez, rookie Sandro Cortese (GRT Yamaha) has increased considerably.
At the end of the second day of testing at Jerez at 6 pm, Jonathan Rea's best time had always existed, which led the Kawasaki rider with a Qualifyer tire before the lunch break.
Rea broke Marco Melandri's pole record in 2017 (on Ducati) by 0.247 sec. However, his record (unofficial) in Jerez misses the Northern Irishman for 7/10 s; Last November, he drove in ideal conditions in 1: 37.986 min.
In the afternoon, Alex Lowes (Yamaha) managed to shorten the allotted time while maintaining a clear mark of 0.664 seconds.
The conversion of the BSB-Kawasaki standard to the ZM-10RR WM specification is more difficult than expected for Leon Haslam. The Briton, who returns to the World Cup after three years as England's champion, has yet accumulated the greatest number of innings (101 Rd.). 39.766 min / + 1.053 sec).
Alvaro Bautista confirmed that he was the best Ducati driver with the fourth fastest time in 1: 39,845 min (85 laps) for his strong debut Monday. His teammate at the Aruba Ducati, Chaz Davies, is only 7/1000 seconds behind.
Despite a broken Punctured, Michael van der Mark made 73 laps on the second day of testing and rose to 1: 40.092 min. Despite the pain, the Yamaha rider was faster than Marco Melandri with the Yamaha GRT (1: 40.235 min / + 1.522 sec).
On Tuesday morning, Superbike rookie Sandro Cortese had technical problems and therefore only led seven laps. At the end of the day, the German Yamaha PIlot had completed 35 laps in the GRT team and reduced his gap to an improvement of 1: 40.592 minutes to less than two seconds. On Monday, the Berkheimer drove in 1: 41.972 min.
