After his electric pickup R1T, the American start-up Rivian also presented his all-electric R1S SUV. It should be offered as 5 and 7 places. E-SUV prices available from the end of 2020 start at $ 72,500 (before subsidies).
The R1S is based on the same platform as the R1T unveiled yesterday. It is therefore also equipped with four electric motors of 147 kW each. The other technical data are identical: the total power can be configured at different levels between 300 and 562 kW. Depending on this, 105, 135 and 180 kWh battery capacities are available. The range varies between 370 and 644 km versions.
The difference is that the SUV is a little shorter than the pickup and has a third row of seats instead of a loading area. With its dimensions, the Rivian model in the SUV segment is therefore quite comparable to the Tesla Model X model, which also has up to seven seats. The other models are just not so big.
With regard to digital and autonomous driving functions (level 3, live updates, etc.), the SUV is by no means the ideal solution. This also applies to the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h, which will be treated by the model presented today in its most powerful version also in 3 seconds. The maximum speed is also identical to 200 km / h.
