Toronto (dpa) – On a boulevard in Toronto, Canada, a man shot and killed an 18-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl. Another 13 people were injured, police said on Monday.
The 29-year-old gunman died after a shooting with the police. The first thing that remained open was whether he had been hit by police bullets or whether he had committed suicide.
The author opened fire on Sunday night around 10 pm (local time) on a street with shops, bars, and restaurants in the Greektown neighborhood. According to police chief Mark Saunders, the man used a handgun, according to eyewitnesses, he gave about 20 shots in the area. There are fewer guns in Canada than in the southern United States. However, there have been repeated armed attacks against the population in recent years, including six people in Quebec in January 2017. Last April, a man in a delivery van crossed Toronto's sidewalks and killed ten people.
