Swiss speed riders were able to convince in the first World Cup downhill training at Lake Louise.
With Michelle Gisin (5th), Priska Nufer (6th) and Jasmine Flury (7th), 3 Swiss were ranked among the top 10 athletes. Corinne Suter in 13th place, Lara Gut-Behrami and Joana Hählen in 17th place complete the convincing result.
Austria's Christine Scheyer set the fastest time of the day. Ilka Stuhec, winner of the 2016/17 World Cup who had missed the last season due to a broken cruciate ligament, returned to tenth place.
An ancestor crushes
As was the case six days ago with men, the kickoff training was overshadowed by a serious accident. An ancestor crashed very hard and had to be picked up by helicopter and transported. The beginning of the training was therefore delayed by 40 minutes. For the men, Manuel Osborne-Paradis suffered a fracture of the tibia and fibula.
