Adria Airways and Sukhoi have signed a letter of intent for the purchase of 15 Sukhoi Superjet 100s. This was announced on Monday, November 26th by the Slovenian airline and the Russian aircraft manufacturer. By 2019, regional jets should therefore be delivered under a lease agreement.
In addition, the two companies signed a letter of intent to jointly build a maintenance and repair operation at Ljubljana airport. Adria Airways director Holger Kowarsch said the Superjet had been analyzed for two years. Regional aircraft meet the strategic objectives of the airline. It has also authorized the use of current CRJ and Airbus aircraft for crewed lease purposes.
Capital injection for Adria Airways
Adria Airways, a member of Star Alliance, asked in October to raise new funds. The airline announced last week its success: the company's owner, Munich's 4K Invest, will recapitalize Adria Airways with 4 million euros. "That adds up to at least 10 million euros expected for the first quarter of 2019," writes the airline. Its fleet currently consists of Airbus A319, Bombardier CRJ700, CRJ900 and Saab 2000.

Brussels separates from the SSJ100
Recently, several airlines have expressed dissatisfaction with the Superjet, particularly with regard to reliability and the supply of spare parts. The Russian aircraft manufacturer ruled and said that in the future, the service would give them a higher priority than sales.
Nevertheless, Brussels Airlines will have the super-jets until early March 2019 and will replace them with Bombardier CRJ900 and CRJ1000 aircraft. Although passengers are getting positive feedback on the travel comfort of the Russian aviator, said a spokeswoman. The problem was "the youth problems of this type of aircraft still relatively young", which would have resulted in many cancellations of flights this summer. "Even small technical problems require a longer recovery time," said the Brussels Airlines spokeswoman.
