A German hunter was shot dead in a field in Thringen, central Germany. Police suspect a hunting accident.
Several hunters were deployed Wednesday night to Unterwellenborn to hunt wild animals off the field before harvest, a police spokesman said. He suddenly fell a shot and one of the hunters collapsed. The 56-year-old died on the spot. Why was shot, and why this shot hit the man, was initially unclear. The criminal police determined that the area was encircled on a large scale.

Prosecutor Gera is investigating because of a careless assault against seven suspects who are apparently hunters. The child was injured in the hip and arm and had to undergo surgery
