US government headquarters spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Monday in Washington. The Washington sanctions imposed by Washington on the appropriation of the region would be maintained until Russia surrendered Crimea to Ukraine, she added.

Trump National Security Advisor, John Bolton, hinted

US President Trump did not explicitly rule out recognition of Russia's annexation of Crimea last week . Asked by reporters about the fact that he did not want to condemn the annexation, Trump replied evasively, "We'll see."

The Ukrainian Black Sea Peninsula was annexed by neighboring Russia in March 2014. Previously, in Kiev, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was overthrown after months of violent demonstrations and more than 100 deaths. Russian troops eventually occupied the Crimean Parliament in Simferopol and other strategically important places on the peninsula.

In a controversial referendum, a majority of the peninsula's population voted to join Russia. Annexation is recognized by almost no state under international law.

Trump and Putin want to meet in the Finnish capital, Helsinki, on July 16th. The Russian government said on Monday that Crimea would not be discussed. Putin has repeatedly stressed that the peninsula is an inseparable part of Russia, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. (SDA)
