Which car will be named "Car of the Year 2019" next spring? Only seven candidates are in the race. LOOK knows the finalists.

Every year, a car manufacturer can start with a sense of accomplishment at the Geneva Motor Show. Even before the official opening of the show, the title "Car of the Year" will be awarded. An international jury of experts composed of 58 members, including Urs Bärtschi from the BLICK surrender authority, awards this coveted title. A total of 38 models were available this year. The jury announced the seven finalists who will face for the title "Car of the Year 2019". The top 7 in alphabetical order:

Alpine A110

This year, the legendary Alpine celebrates its return. After a long sleep, Renault brings back its sports coupe under its own brand – and other models will follow. The mid-engine two-seater is equipped with a turbocharged 1.8-liter engine developing 252 horsepower, which drives the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The prices of the Alpine A110 start at 61,500 francs.

Citroën C5 Aircross

The Citroën SUV wants to establish standards of comfort in the segment with its new large metal suspension. Up to 20 assistance systems operate in a modern interior and the trunk contains 580 to 720 liters of luggage. For prices from 26 to 400 francs, there are two gasoline and two diesel from 130 to 180 hp. End 2019 is expected to follow a plug-in hybrid with four-wheel drive 300 hp.

Ford Focus

In the fourth generation, the sedan was slightly, the break much longer. The result is clearly more space. Jaguar I-Pace

The first Jaguar, fully electric, brings a breath of fresh air in the segment E, still relatively unoccupied. The SUV sports four-wheel drive accelerates in 4.8 seconds to 100 km with two engines that together produce 696 Nm and 294 kW (400 hp) .From 82 800 francs, there is a battery pack of 90 kWh. 480 kilometers allowed.

Kia Ceed

The "Korean" Ceed, developed and built in Europe, really warms the traditional competitors of the compact category. In addition to the three and four-cylinder petrol engines from 100 to 140 hp, the front-wheel drive transmission is offered, a new 1.6-liter diesel engine in two performance variants (115 and 136 hp). The new Ceed costs 19,950 francs.

Mercedes Class

For the fourth generation, the new bodywork also includes an entirely new interior and cockpit, with a particularly communicating multimedia system and an augmented reality navigation system. The smallest class A engines costing at least 34,000 francs come from the Renault shelf, diesel and gasoline engines ranging from 109 to 224 hp.

Peugeot 508

The coupe-style sedan with fully LED headlights awaits inside with the latest version of the iconic i brand cockpit. The 508 is available in four versions and is equipped with gasoline and diesel engines in a power range of 130 to 225 hp from CHF 36,900. The other novelty is the EAT8 8 speed automatic transmission.
