Los Angeles (dpa) – The star badge of Donald Trump on Hollywood's "Walk of Fame" was damaged again. The incident occurred early in the morning (local time), said a spokesman for the police from the German news agency.

A 24-year-old man was arrested. He had to answer for vandalism in the courts.

The star badge was broken with a pickaxe, but after a few hours, a repair team arrived. Any demolition – regardless of the star – will be repaired immediately, said Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on request. The five-point plates on a concrete slab are made of marble and bronze. The star will now be covered for a few days until the newly repaired badge can be polished, according to a message.

Already in October 2016, just before Trump's electoral victory, the plaque was demolished by a man with a hammer and a pickaxe. The 52-year-old offender was sentenced to probation. He also had to pay for the repair costs. After the act, the rich businessman had declared that he was out of anger because of Trump's treatment of women and minorities.

Trump received the badge in 2007 for his television programs. It's right next to actor Kevin Spacey in a block of streets in front of the Hollywood & Highland Center. The "Walk of Fame" with more than 2,600 stars honors the merit of show business. It runs through the center of Hollywood.
