Basel trams have been attacked too often in France. Now, the transport company stops the lines at night at the Swiss border.

Vandals damaged a slice of a Basel 3 Series tramway in St. Louis (F) on Tuesday. The line was interrupted for one hour. The attack was not the first. Since the beginning of March he has been driving at night with security guards.

The incident was not the first on this foreign section of the tram line 3. Already "for several weeks" at this terminus "cases of increasing vandalism" were recorded. According to BVB, the damages caused to the tram-drive are not "very important", but the security personnel "in the first two weeks" reached a high amount to four figures. The weekend stop now entails a reduction in costs.

Line in operation since one year

The section of Basel via Bourgfelden (F) in Saint-Louis (F) was inaugurated a year ago. The Tramverlängerung should strengthen cohesion in the region and boost bilateral relations, she said at the celebration. An earlier tramway line in St. Louis was installed 60 years ago.
