HC Davos faces a revolutionary decision: are we going to do it like we did 22 years ago?
A few years ago, after the dismissal of coaches (which is not currently the case at the HCD), the same used names still circulated: Huras, Ruhnke, Pelletier, etc. Sometimes these (sometimes high-performing) coaches made several passes on the uphill and downhill train and, at some point, returned to the scene of the crime.
However, these times have long passed, even in Swiss hockey, which is not known to be particularly innovative. If the HCD does not embark on an excursion in misunderstood nostalgia, then only one solution should be considered: the national team model Ambri. So: "Swissness" (with a hello from Florian Kohler) and a steady smell – but with a fresh scent.
Müller, Paterlini, Von Arx – they have the charisma
Recommended: A strategic command with Pascal Müller (who prevailed at Kloten) as sports director and Thierry Paterlini and Reto d'Arx (U18 Combo) at the coaching office. Reto by Arx? Yes.
He already has international experience at the highest level (as an assistant to Patrick Fischer at the 2016 World Cup) and has (like Paterlini) enough charisma to fill the existing void.
It would be an experience and therefore a risk too big for the HCD, do you say? Any coach who comes to Del Curto is an experience.
22 years ago, a company before
Now a few sentences to the conclusion: The big names started sometimes small. Finally, EHC Kloten burned his fingers on a designated firefighter.
And then this: 22 years ago, the HCD ventured into unfamiliar territory and promoted the coach of Nati Junior to the head of the coach. A revolutionary decision that shaped HCD for a very long time.
