After three years, the collaboration between Valentino Rossi and Riding Coach Luca Cadalora is at a crossroads. Cadalora asked for time to think about the opportunity to stop.
After the 2018 season, the triple world champion Luca Cadalora will be available next year for his friend and fellow Valentino Rossi in the Yamaha factory team as a coach and advisor. "I've been doing this for three years now, time has gone fast," sports car enthusiast Cadalora said in an interview with SPEEDWEEK.com. "I have traveled a lot in recent years.I have two teenage girls at home and so much hobbies that I have to neglect. For example, I have a soft spot for old rally cars." I have a Subaru, two Mitsubishi Lancer and a Nissan Nismo … "
Apparently, the relationship between Rossi and Cadalora is also blurred in three years. "I do not save Valentino with critics, it would only be beneficial if I honestly tell him what I think," Cadalora said. After the accidents in Sepang and Valencia, I frankly shared my opinion with him. "
It also seems that Rossi wanted to expand his lead or defend himself, even if the pursuers were stronger. "Even my American opponents have always wanted to increase their lead," recalls Cadalora, who won the 125cc, 250cc and 500cc world championships.
Cadalora won 195 Grand Prix and 34 GP wins. He has 72 podiums, 29 pole positions and 30 fastest laps in the race. In 1986, Luca won the 125cc World Championship at the Garelli, the 250cc World Championship in 1991 and 1992 on the Honda NSR 250. At the 1994 Halbliter World Cup, the Yamaha factory was enough for the second rank of the world ranking.
Cadalora, who is paid by Yamaha, was present at the trials in Valencia. He is currently active in Jerez and drives each session with the Yamaha scooter on the track.
In Jerez, however, the Italian Idalio Gavira, the coach of the Sky VR46 team, has repeatedly met with Rossi.
Meanwhile, Cadalora watched the practices outside on the track. "We have 19 Grand Prix and many tests. That's why I'm going to think about the continuation of next year, "said Cadalora, 55 years old.
