In a Facebook post, the Walnut Creek Police Department said that a woman and her accomplice had "worked in tandem" on Monday to steal the wallet at a local Safeway grocery store. The detectives sought help from the public to identify the two women and included videos of the suspects before and during the flight, as well as when they left the store.

The video taken before the flight showed the victim, dressed in a pink sweater, in an alley, choosing what appeared to be deli meat. One of the suspects, wearing a baseball cap, approached the victim while she was turning her back on him.

The suspect was seen in the video looking around and then moving away. The suspect came back several times, looking at the victim each time, then looking around. When a client started to choose items right next to the elderly woman, the suspect immediately went away. She came back shortly after and followed the elderly woman as she was leaving the driveway.

All the while, a second woman was seen behind the suspect in the baseball cap.
