Target Launches Holiday Price Match Guarantee to Gain Competitive Advantage

Target promises its customers that it will deliver the best-value gifts this holiday season in an effort to lure customers in the midst of yet another holiday season against a pandemic.

Starting Sunday, the Minneapolis-based retailer launches its “Holiday Price Match Guarantee” program as it strives to gain an edge over its competitors.

Until December 24, customers will be able to request a price adjustment on all items purchased from Target.

Target says the program takes all the “stress and guesswork out of finding deals” by delivering the best deals earlier in the season.

Target will also continue to match the prices of certain competitors within two weeks of any purchase.

It is “designed to give customers the confidence that they are getting the best deals at Target,” Christina Hennington, Director of Growth at Target.

At the same time, the retailer is also launching its “Deal Days” from October 10 to 12. For three days, Target will offer deals online, through the Target app, and in stores.

Target’s strong sales streak last year continued throughout a pandemic holiday season after a strong online push and increased effort to provide alternatives to customers trying to downplay risks. The retailer reported that online sales jumped 102% between November and December, even despite disruptions related to the virus.

Similar to this year, the company drastically reduced prices from the beginning of October to start an unprecedented shopping season early.

To support increased demand during this year’s holiday season, the company announced last month that it would hire around 100,000 seasonal workers across the country, about 30,000 fewer than last year. .

The added positions will help the retailer serve customers who pick up merchandise ordered online at the store or pick it up curbside.
