TBI investigates shootings involving deadly officer in Clarksville, Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – The Tennessee Investigation Bureau (Tennessee) is investigating a fatal shooting involving an officer in Clarksville.

According to the BIT, around 3:35 pm on Saturday afternoon, police responded to a call for a wreck in the 1900 block of Batts Lane. A man and a woman reportedly fled the accident.

When the police approached, the man escaped, leading to a prosecution on foot with one of the police officers. Identified by Angel Dean Burke, the police said that Burke was armed and that there had been an "exchange". The officer fired and hit Burke.

Burke was taken to hospital but died as a result of his injury.

The BIT says that the investigation is active and ongoing.
