A series of folding devices allegedly by TCL. CNET
TCL is a name you typically associate with low-end Alcatel phones and BlackBerry-branded terminals. But the company may also be working on foldable devices, according to CNET.
The point-of-sale obtained makes and deposits a patented image of several devices (visible in the main image), and the most striking gadget is a foldable phone that turns into a kind of smartwatch. It may be more bulky than your standard smartwatch – the folded design may be less secure and unobtrusive than dedicated wrists – and TCL should probably dramatically change the Android look for the watch's form factor. But you'll also get cellular connectivity and lots of storage by opting for this solution rather than a traditional smartwatch.
We also see two tablets the size of a tablet, including one with a folding screen similar to a book. Meanwhile, the other shelf-sized tablet folds outward, like the Royole Flexpai.
The last two collapsible devices discovered by CNET are foldable smartphones, one displaying a clamshell design (with the screen on the inside) while the other folds outwards (with the screen on the outside). The first solution could mean that the screen would be protected once folded, while the last design was more likely to be scratched in a pocket, but could offer permanent functionality.
The outlet also claims to have seen a rendering for the peripherals with a "center space resembling a surface book". This suggests that these particular devices would not have an appropriate foldable display. In any case, it is assumed that these images are preliminary and that TCL could always cancel or modify the devices (if it develops them).
