Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed Explains “Deliberate” Change in Nate’s Gray Hair Color

If you’ve ever watched season 2 of the Emmy Award-winning drama series Apply TV + Ted lasso and have been invested in the characters, you’ve probably noticed that Nate, who is played by actor Nick Mohammed, suddenly changed his hair color to gray.

Viewers wondered why this was the case and we finally have the answers as to why, thanks to a Message on Twitter by Mohammed himself, which he warns, may contain spoilers. He might suggest that you don’t read the following until you’ve watched the season finale.

In the social media post, Mohammed also thanks Joe Kelly, who apparently co-wrote the episode with star Jason Sudeikis.

According to Mohammed, the change in hair color was intentional. “I have spots of gray that were painted in season 1 and were painted more and more gray as season 2 went on,” he said, adding that he was a wig at the very end.

He thanked stylists Nicky Austin and Alexis Dolman for “making this possible!”

Gray hair is believed to be a symbol of Nate’s “fall” and feelings of abandonment and how those feelings stressed and aged him. He’s also aware of how he attaches himself to players at times and when he called Rebecca a “shrew” for potentially firing him in Season 1, Mohammed says that’s when we have “a first glimpse of Nate’s wicked side.”

Mohammed concludes his post by thanking the show’s “phenomenal” writing team and thanks fans for staying loyal to the show and for all the support he has received.
