Police in Fort Collins, Colorado, said they were reviewing reports of a group of teenagers staging fights inside area parks, which looks a lot like the cult favorite of 1999 “Fight club.”

KDVR reported that the group seems to be little known, but the teens compete in front of their peers. The fights were shared on various social media platforms, city police told the station.

Police said they arrived at the scene after an apparent scuffle, but the teens refused to speak. There was an arrest after alcohol was found on a minor, police said.

“Fight Club” starred Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. They played two malcontents who channeled their contempt for society by exchanging bare punches with a stranger. Both seemed to derive as much pleasure from receiving a punch as they did from applying the punishment. The film has attracted imitators in the past.

The station spoke with a local high school teacher who said the COVID-19 outbreak has been a real source of stress for teens and believes the fighting is “a reaction” to the fact that students were out of school last year.

“In my students, I see a lot of kids with anxiety,” the teacher, Todd Forkner, told the station. “There are children who have panic attacks.

Police told the post they wanted to dismantle the club to prevent one of those fighters from seriously injuring himself.
