NASHVILLE (WDEF) – The Tennessee Health Commissioner briefed us this week on the prognosis for the arrival of the Covid-19 vaccine in the state.
Dr Lisa Piercey expects the first doses to arrive in Tennessee from December 14-15.
But the Ministry of Health does not yet know how much they will receive.
The first shipment will come from Pfizer.
But they learned that Moderna will send out her vaccine about a week later.
Whatever the number, the first doses will go to health workers and first responders.
But most of us could still take months to gain access to a vaccine.
So Dr Piercey said our own vigilance was the best medicine while on vacation.
“As the holidays approach, remember that there are precautions you can take at home that will reduce the rate of transmission. If you can avoid a rally, you should. If you can minimize the number of people, especially outside your household, you should consider doing so. And when these people come, you can take precautions there like you would elsewhere… space out, move outside, wear masks when you are not eating.
