A 3-year-old boy who went missing in east Texas on Wednesday was found alive and well around noon on Saturday just five miles from his home, the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office said.

Christopher Ramirez’s mother and grandmother were unloading their car at the family’s home Wednesday afternoon when the toddler went missing, and a neighbor saw him chasing a dog on the street, according to Fox 26 Houston.

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI Field Office in Houston, Texas Equusearch volunteers and other groups had been searching for Ramirez for four days before someone who lives nearby found him in dense woods on Saturday.

Christopher Ramirez, 3, was found around noon on Saturday, four days after he disappeared from his east Texas home.

“We found little Christopher about five miles from here,” Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell told reporters on Saturday.

“He was in good shape, in good health. He is currently being examined. He is on his way to the hospital and he drinks a lot of water. His mother is with him.”

Grimes County Judge Joe Fauth said the woods surrounding the area are so dense that “Davy Crocket would have had a bit of trouble walking through them.”

“I made a crack yesterday. I said we were going to fix this problem by 2 hours on Saturday,” Fauth said in the search box. “Well thank you, dear Lord, we solved it two hours ago, and we solved it with the happiest end we could possibly find.”
