Texas nightclub shooting kills 1, injures 5

At least one person was killed and five others injured in a Sunday morning shootout at a Texas nightclub.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said a fight broke out inside Visions nightclub in Houston, where “several people produced guns and started shooting.”

Authorities responded to the club around 2 a.m. Derrick Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Another person was shot in the head but is expected to survive, officials told FOX 26 Houston.

About 100 people were attending a private party at the club when the brawl broke out.

Sgt. Jason Brown, of the HCSO Homicide division, said there may have been multiple shooters. Guns were recovered from the scene, Brown added.

So far, no one has been charged in connection with the shooting. An investigation into the incident is underway, FOX 26 reported.
