A Texas real estate agent who took a private jet to witness the riot at the United States Capitol last week and called it the best day of his life faces federal charges.
Jennifer Ryan, who goes through Jenna Ryan on social media, is the latest person charged in the Jan.6 attack that left five people dead, including a Capitol Hill cop.
Federal officials said in court documents released Friday that Ryan traveled with a group to Washington, DC on Jan.5 and documented his two-day trip on social media.
In a deleted video, Ryan said, “We’re going to come down and storm the Capitol. They’re out there right now and that’s why we’ve come and that’s what we’re going to do. So wish me luck.
Another video which is still online on Ryan’s Facebook page shows her with a group of supporters of President Donald Trump marching towards the Capitol. “It’s a prelude to the war that is about to happen,” she warns.
It also broadcast live upon entering the building.
“We’re going to f —— get in here. Life or death, whatever. Here we go,” she said in a now-deleted video. Ryan later added: You all know who to hire for your real estate agent. Jenna Ryan for your real estate agent. “
Authorities said hours after the breach, Ryan wrote on Twitter that she had just “stormed the capital [sic]. “
“It was one of the best days of my life,” she wrote, according to court documents. Another photo included in the documents shows her standing next to a shattered window at the Capitol. In the caption, she said news studios would be next “if the news kept lying about us.”
Ryan has been charged with disorderly conduct on the Capitol grounds and knowingly entering or staying in a building or restricted land without legal entry. It is not known if she got a lawyer.
In a statement released Jan. 8, Ryan said she believed she was participating in a “peaceful political march,” but it turned into a violent protest.
“I do not tolerate the violence that has occurred,” she wrote. “And I am truly heartbroken for the people who lost their lives. Hatred and violence towards each other will not solve our country’s problems. As a nation, we must unite Republican, Democrat and independent and having an open and honest attitude. discussing the problems of our country and solving our problems in peace. “
