The American Islamic Council calls on advertisers to boycott Fox News until Jeanine Pirro is dismissed

The Council for Islamic-American Relations called on advertisers to boycott Fox News until the network's axes host Jeanine Pirro.

The call comes a few days after Pirro's Saturday night "Justice with Judge Jeanine" broadcast, which was rejected after Fox said in the previous episode that the hijab worn by representative Ilhan Omar (D- Min.) Could be "antithetical to the Constitution. In fact, the Constitution guarantees the right of free expression of religion.

The future of Pirro on the network is not clear. Fox declined to comment on "internal planning issues", although she had previously issued a statement "strongly condemning" Pirro's statement.

CAIR, the largest civil rights and advocacy group for Muslims in the United States, is also calling on advertisers to ask Fox to separate from Tucker Carlson following the unearthed audio cassettes of the US. animator making racist and sexist comments on the radio. Some advertisers have already abandoned the program.

"Fox News must clearly state that Jeanine Pirro will no longer be allowed to resume the show after her long history of Islamophobic hate speech and the network must also take similar action against other Islamophobic hosts like Tucker Carlson," Nihad Awad, National Executive Director of CAIR. said in a statement provided to HuffPost. "All existing advertisers must place their ads on Fox News to avoid associating them with the promotion of hate."

At least four advertisers – Botox maker, Allergan, online marketplace Letgo, personal finance firm NerdWallet and pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk – all said they were withdrawing their commercials from the Pirro program, according to The Hollywood Reporter .

President Donald Trump on Sunday called for Fox to resume Pirro broadcasts.

Also on Monday, the cable news channel announced that it had hired Donna Brazile, former chairman of the National Democratic Committee and CNN contributor, as political commentator at Fox.

In an appearance on Dana Perino's Fox News show Monday, Brazile said she was joining the network to listen and reach out to the "Fox family," adding, "It's a period critical for our country. It is a period of dialogue, it is a period of civility. We will not go ahead screaming at you and sending bad tweets. "
