It seems a little closer than normal since COVID-19 caused Clare Crawley’s season filming to start later this summer. But, regardless, fans are getting both still and Matt James’ promo looks really alluring. He has a very different introduction to the world of Bachelor Nation compared to the other tracks, of course, which made his debut a bit more difficult than others.

Once again, Adams ‘season is expected to have its finale around December 21 and James’ promos will show its season premieres on January 4. A great way to kick off the New Year. And while ABC is following similar precautions with James’ season due to COVID, the two seasons are still going to be completely different. Which is already evident as the promos show.
Crawley and Adams’ season takes place in Palm Springs, California, in the wilderness of a vast resort town. And James’ season was filmed at a huge resort in a wooded area of Pennsylvania according to Entertainment Tonight. Instead of a flat area, it looks like a mansion.
And this season is returning to its regular format of a single lead with 30 competitors to start. There won’t be love at first sight like Crawley did, at least it seems. But that doesn’t mean this next The single person the season is normal.
As James had never been on the show, he didn’t know how to participate in the rose and other ceremonies.
In a Us Weekly interview with Chris Harrison on November 24, the host spoke of new and weird that it was for James. He’s got such an unprecedented lead in that he’s never been on the show before. In the past, the frontman has always been a show contender in previous seasons, but James has not. He has a connection being the friend of former Tyler Cameron, and he was cast for Crawley’s season. But he wasn’t really on the show until he was cast in June.
“There are wonderful things about the naivety and innocence of just walking in,” Harrison said. “But then there are little things that we really had to stop, and you know, [it’s] the first night and he doesn’t know what to do.
There were things like the famous rose ceremony that James could have seen on television but had never filmed behind the scenes. He didn’t know the ins and outs of giving roses (having never received any either) and so it was so new with such a massive learning curve.
“He doesn’t know the vernacular, he doesn’t know what I’m going to do,” Harrison continued. “We really had to guide him and teach him; it was Bachelor 101. And it was test by fire.
But despite some “mess” and “trip-ups,” Harrison said audiences might see “endearing and cute” moments unfold because of it. Depending on whether the changes are kept.
“Because this guy was really going through this and he would stop and say, ‘Wait, what are we doing?'” Said Harrison. “And so, it was fun. But there were also trials and tribulations and some obstacles that we had to overcome.
It’s never a ‘bad time’ to do the ‘right thing’ for James
James is also the first Black Bachelor, which is a big step for the franchise. Rachel Lindsay was the first Black Bachelorette in 2017 and has been a strong advocate for more diversity on the series for quite some time now, fed up with the lack of accountability ABC has taken on in the past.
“I think [my casting is] a step in the right direction, ”said James Hello america in June when the casting was announced. “When Rachel speaks, we listen. She has a very important voice in all of this, being the first black woman, person of color, to [be the] lead, so I think we are all following suit in this conversation. I hope this is the first of many black men to occupy the position I am in now.
Even though it took almost 20 years to put a black man in the lead – or any man of color – James had a very “better late than never” attitude.
“I don’t think this is the wrong time to do the right thing. “Too little, too late” for me is happening, and we can’t have a change until we take that first step forward, ”he said. “And that first step forward for the ‘Bachelor’ franchise is to have a black lead, so I’m excited to take on this role.”
James’ season of The single person premieres Jan. 4 on ABC.
