Although Dr. Manish Sharma, Anderson's neurosurgeon, was forced to shave his hair to perform the surgery, he made sure to remove as little as possible before the bride's wedding day.
"I asked Dr. Sharma whether to cut the hair and he said yes. That's the part I really liked, because I thought, "I'm getting married in August, I can not do without hair," Anderson said.
After the surgery, Sharma feared that Anderson would recover his health and balance before his wedding.
But Anderson's determination was unshakeable. She refused to reprogram her big day, announcing TODAY, that she was planning to "crawl into that driveway before having to use a walker.
"It was not an option for me," added Anderson.
