PHOENIX, AZ (3TV / CBS 5) – County health officials said that cases of West Nile virus infection should now reach their highest level in five years.
At this rate, they expect infected mosquitoes to fly into Maricopa County until November.

"We have mosquitoes in Maricopa County that do not only bite at dawn and dusk, but also bite all day," said Rebecca Sunenshine, medical director of the county's Department of Public Health. Maricopa.
Until this year, the Arizona Department of Health has confirmed 16 cases of West Nile, all in Maricopa County.
According to the figures, it is already more than the totality of last year, while there were 12.
Health workers said that the increase in the number of cases occurs while the peak season for West Nile, the monsoon, has just begun.
"We do not want people in the valley to feel like it's not here, it's all over the valley, so anyone coming out must wear insect control products," he said. Sunenshine.
At this rate, county health experts have said that Maricopa County will probably be the one with the highest number of West Nile cases in five years.
Experts said only 20% of people had symptoms.
"When we see such an increase in the number of cases, and we know that there are so many infected mosquitoes, we must do everything in our power to protect ourselves," said Sunenshine.
