The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Medan Man – Tips and Tricks to Save the 5 Characters

[ad_1]

This article discusses our tips and tricks for playing the interactive horror story of The Dark Pictures: The Medan Man, where your goal is to help five young adults survive on their journey on a ghost ship.

You'll find specific tips you'll need to save each person in the circumstances where they can live or die during the game. It's a living document, which I'll update as I discover more than 69 different ways that characters can die when they explore a floating wreck that goes back to after the Second World War. (Check out our review here, along with some other good guides).

Let's hope there's plenty of time left since the game's launch on August 30th for these tips and tricks not to be seen as revealing, but as tips to consider when you're stuck. Man of Medan is available from Supermassive Games developer and Bandai Namco publisher on a Windows PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox.

I strongly recommend playing Man of Medan without any advice the first few times. It is quite replayable and it's fun to watch a friend who has not experienced it before playing with you for the first time. But if you are frustrated and really want to save a character without having to re-exercise to play again, this post is for you.

I played it to the end a few times and I explored different options in each of the scenes (which you can replay once you finish the game for the first time).

As with the 2015 Until Dawn predecessors and the 2017 Hidden Agenda, Man of Medan designers have once again adopted the Butterfly Effect Chaos Theory, according to which small events, such as beats of wings of a butterfly, can have huge downstream effects, such as a hurricane. this happens weeks later. You have to make many small and big decisions in the game, and these lead to either salvation or death. You can get clues on how to save characters in the "dark images" that you find, which show a brief video of a future scene of life and death.

But sometimes the game seems very unfair. If you decide to hide instead of running, your character may get caught and die. If two characters do not hear, a character may choose to allow another character to die at a critical time.

In the end, you can either go out with the five characters alive, or you can finish with all the dead. I recommend you try to save people as long as you can, as this reveals more clues and more history. In addition, you may want to save these characters, because the developers have done everything to create an emotional bond with each character, with the exception of Conrad.

The game also features a coop mode where you can play with another player. You can also play in Movie Night mode, where up to five players can meet, each playing one of the main characters. The game takes about four or five hours to play. I played the game on a Windows PC with an Xbox One controller.

L & # 39; s history

Man of Medan is a horror adventure that begins with a prelude established in 1947, when the freighter dubbed the Medan man In the course of a storm, water seeps into the cargo hold and mixes with an unpleasant chemical. It releases a green gas that enters the bodies stored in the hold. And that makes the team crazy. During this part, you control two soldiers who are thrown into the brig and the medical center for being intoxicated. You learn to control the game and make decisions, but you can not escape your destiny.

Years later, a crew of treasure hunters headed for an excursion boat, dubbed the Duke of Milan. First, they explore the underwater wreck of an old rescue plane. Then they come up against a trio of pirates and, caught in a violent storm, they are driven to Medan man, now an abandoned float where everyone believes holds a treasure: Manchurian gold. From there, the story unfolds in a non-linear way when you choose the characters to use.

General advice

We've noticed that the game is pretty replayable, but I know the excruciating feeling of having to do it all over again simply because of a bad decision or a sloppy QuickTime event (or QTE, where you have to press the right button of your controller or the keyboard before the time runs out).

One of the best ways to save time, after playing the game for the first time, is to re-launch a new game saved in a specific chapter. If you can determine which chapter you have gone astray, start with this point. You do not need to replay the entire match, but you can still end up with the five characters alive.

Be ready for QTE. You have to press the right button at the right time, otherwise you will do something wrong for one of the characters. Getting mashed pimples is a matter of life and death. I strongly recommend that you do not perform multiple tasks at the same time as Man of Medan. You never know when you have to crush a button. In addition, you sometimes have to overwrite a button such as the X key. You must be ready to attack that key and press it again and again. If you fail often, it will be bad news for your characters.

You must also master the mechanism of breathing, where you have to press the A button at the right time, much like playing Guitar Hero. This helps you stay hidden when hackers search for you. In the tips below, some characters may end up in different pairs in particular scenes, depending on the choices you made.

Whichever character you play, please note the task you must perform. And remember that characters are subject to hallucinations. Things are not always what they seem to be, as the name "Manchurian Gold" calls it. Do not think that every monster you attack is actually a monster. And you must not in any case lose the hood of the dispenser, which the boat of the Duke of Milan needs to escape Man of Medan.

Conrad

You can assign a player to a character in Movie Night mode.

Unfortunately, you can not stop Conrad from being annoying.

Conrad is the first character you can lose. When he pushes through the window of the boat and as he climbs to the side, he has the opportunity to fly a boat to make a loose leak solo or to move to the rear to face the pirates. If you want him to live, you have to face the pirates. He has a chance to escape and then come back to the end, but only if you get all the correct QTEs.

Conrad's major encounter occurs with a sexy woman who is an illusion. In fact, she is a decomposing zombie. By fleeing it, you have to hit the right QTEs. You must have a breathing test if you are staying in a room. If you do not pass this exam, Conrad will panic and die. If you run away, you run out of space to run. You can jump, but then Conrad will fall in his death. If you face the monster, you will find that it is not a monster after all.

Fliss

Do you know Fliss well enough?

You must protect Fliss from threats such as being stuck under water in a cage. You must make sure that you choose to break a hinge on the cage. It can also be overtaken by monsters in the water and you must hit your QTE to prevent it from drowning.

Fliss finds a ballroom with a lot of satanic symbols. She must escape this ritual piece and take the air. If she does not, she will come up against a masked figure. She can kill that number, but it will be one of her friends.

And at the end of the game, Fliss can be killed by one of his friends. The friend must realize that he does not see a real demon.

Brad

Brad should tell Alex to "do with his instinct" on a major decision that Alex will take. Brad must remain hidden on the Duke of Milan while the pirates are on the boat. This is very useful if you find the gas mask while exploring in the Finding Friends chapter.

While Brad and Julia escape from Olson, they should stop long enough to examine Danny, the apparently dead pirate. Julia will find her engagement ring in her hand.

Brad can be killed by one of his friends.

After hearing Brad's good advice, Alex has to make a proposal to Julia as they dive underwater. He gives her an engagement ring and it would be very helpful for her survival if she answered yes during the dive sequence.

This is where QTE really matters. You have to hit them while Alex and Julia are fleeing Olson. Otherwise, Olson will catch Alex at the last door and stab him. Alex can also die being caught by a doppelganger in pursuit, as well as Julia.

Alex or some of the other cast members may be confronted by Olson, the main pirate, in the cargo hold. When Olson causes a flood, Alex has to escape. He must tell the other friend, who is at the helm, not to drop the door. Alex must escape, pressing the properly timed Quicktime button, then the door must fall.

The rats that eat the pirate's body are actually a threat. Make sure they do not sting Alex, who could lose his grip on the dispenser's cap. Alex should not pick up the knife in the kitchen. If he does, he can very well use it and it will not finish well. Even if he takes the knife, he should not try to kill the terrifying vision before him. If he fails, he fails. If you fail, this end is truly heartbreaking, as a safe escape is almost within your reach.

Julia

Above: Julia is one of the five main characters of Man of Medan.

Julia must receive a proposal from Alex and say yes during her dive. While underwater, Julia and Alex see an explosion above the boat. Julia must remain calm and make sure that she decompresses before getting on the boat. This will prevent it from contracting the decompression sickness too quickly.

Towards the end, when you find the recycler, make sure to take it and bring it with you.

Julia and Brad are arrested by Junior, one of the pirates. He panics because he has breathed green gas and it makes him see things. He does not trust his eyes anymore. Julia must convince him that the mist rebreather is in him and that you could take it away from him. Brad must also say the good things. He must be curious about Junior's visions. He must recognize that "fog" exists. He may deny that he breathed in the mist. And Brad should try to distract Junior, rather than take the weapon. If all goes well for Brad and Julia, things will not go well for Junior. It's not pretty, but it's a very intense scene.

If Junior thinks that others are behind his visions, or if you reject his concerns, he will shoot you. And if it is possible to survive Junior, it is a good result. This implies that Julia is using the rebreather against him while Brad fetches the gun. If they master Junior, he can survive the match.

In the company of Alex, Julia can tell Alex to stop drowning one of the pirates. A lawsuit will ensue. The doppelganger who chased them could very well kill Julia, either by breaking her neck or stabbing her.

The end

Do not trust the military. They keep this secret ghost ship, and they are not your friends. You can call them to rescue you, but do not take them for it. That means you have to keep the dispenser cap for the Duke of Milan. If you lose it, you will have big problems when the army comes along.

If all is correct, you will leave the ghost ship and come home. Duke of Milan. Brad wonders what they really saw. Julia will show Alex the engagement ring and he will put it on his hand again. Then the Duke of Milan flees with everyone safe on board. Conrad will repel an icy point by showing that he has not changed and that you probably should not have saved him.

And if you have indicated your coordinates to the army, there is a video in the middle of the credits that shows the consequences. The soldiers introduce themselves. Two soldiers search the ship. And when they do not pay attention, they fall on Danny, one of the pirates who drowned. He kills them both with a hammer.

Even after you reach this end, you may want to replay it and find all the collectibles, as this will earn you goodies.

Little hope

There is a way to get another Easter egg by viewing the final premonition or one of the dark images that give you hints about the future. You can find it if Alex and Julia join for the last mission, after the radio call, then you take control of Conrad.

The premonition of the photo describes a scene from the next episode of The Dark Pictures Anthology. Her name is Little Hope and displays a scene from the next game. The Conservative suggests we meet again, "maybe at Little Hope."
