Joe Biden heads the 2020 Democrats' group among non-white primary voters, in part because of their "comfort level" with the former vice president, according to a former Democratic National Committee official.
Mo Elleithee, a former director of communications at the DNC, said Monday in "The Daily Briefing" that it was "logical" that the former vice president be at the top of the rankings – with 38% of support among non-democratic primary voters.
Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Who runs as a Democrat in the 2020 presidential race, ahead of Biden with 14% support among this group, said host Dana Perino.

"It makes sense that Biden and Bernie are the two current leaders, because they are probably the best known among all voters in general, but especially among minority voters," Elleithee said.
Sheithee added that Biden's civil rights record and eight years of service to President Barack Obama were also beneficial, claiming that black voters "know Biden's record" and that he "has been there to them on many occasions ".
"What you see now is only a validation of the comfort level," he said.
"Biden is the guy who gives them a sense of security and comfort, and that he would be a champion for them, probably more than anyone at the moment," he said.
Elleithee, however, added that Biden's current position at the top of the pack does not mean that another candidate can not "trim" to his advantage from minority voters.

Elleithee said President Trump would try to join the black community, but that Biden had "criticized the market" early in his campaign when he spoke of the troubles of 2017 in Charlottesville, Virginia.
