EAST VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) – A woman was arrested after allegedly hitting her car with two NYPD officers during a traffic control attempt on Thursday night. One of the police officers is under investigation for firing on his vehicle.

According to the police, Veronica Jagdio was arrested on Friday and charges are pending.

The chain of events started at 20:50. when officers on patrol attempted to arrest a black BMW sedan at East 92nd Street, near Second Avenue. They wanted to stop the driver for breaking the tinted windows.

Police said they smelled marijuana in the car, which was occupied by four people.

Suddenly, the BMW tried to run away, hitting one of the officers at the elbow and the other hand, then escaped south on FDR Drive.

Officers again tried to stop the BMW at East 15th Street and the FDR. When the police approached the car, it was reversed, almost striking the police and their vehicle.

As the BMW reentered the FDR, one of the police fired several times at the vehicle. The New York police stated that this officer may have violated the department's directions and therefore was placed on a modified posting.

The vehicle was found abandoned with the windows open on the FDR exit ramp on Houston Street.

One of the passengers, a 20-year-old man, is apparently driven to the hospital. He is currently detained on a parole warrant.

The FDR Drive investigation was closed south of 23rd Street, but has since reopened.
