The FDA has just issued a warning regarding this COVID measure

However, this method may not be foolproof, especially depending on the type of test used. In fact, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just issued a warning about the possibility of inaccurate results with a specific COVID test. The FDA issued a warning on Jan.4 to alert patients and healthcare providers to false results of the COVID curative test. According to the report, this COVID test is particularly prone to give false negative results. Made by Curative, this real-time PCR test is intended to provide results within 48 hours. However, the FDA says the test is often not used under the right circumstances, which creates a “greater risk” of inaccurate results. And for more COVID warnings, Dr Fauci just released this warning regarding another new COVID strain.

According to the FDA, curative tests should be administered by a qualified healthcare professional and should only be used on symptomatic patients within 14 days of the onset of their COVID symptoms. In a clinical study for this test, all false negatives were seen in asymptomatic patients at the time of their testing.

The FDA says a negative result from a cure test doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t have the virus, and it “shouldn’t be used as the sole basis for treatment or patient management decisions.” The test should primarily be used to confirm the virus in those who already have symptoms indicative of COVID. The FDA issued this warning because there are side effects associated with getting a false negative. “The risks to a patient of a false negative result include: delay or lack of supportive treatment, failure to monitor infected people and their household or other close contacts for symptoms leading to increased risk of the spread of COVID-19 in the community unintended adverse events, ”the FDA said. And for greater risk of coronavirus, these people are at higher risk of catching the new strain of COVID, according to a study.
