Android Development Site The xda developers have got their hands on a preliminary version of the Camera app designed for Google's next Pixel 4. The site then naturally downloaded it marginally on a 2XL Pixel.
Most of the settings exposed in the screenshots already existed in Camera 6.x, but even long-time pixel users could be forgiven if they did not know it. Where Camera 6.x has hidden them in five separate menus, each placed behind a little unintuitive icon at the top of the viewfinder, Camera 7.0 combines them into one menu, much easier to read. This pop-up menu (its options differ, for example, between night and normal view modes) can be accessed by pressing a drop-down arrow or dragging down in the viewfinder.
Behind the scenes, xda developers report finding a new scene detection code that integrates with an extended "Camera Coaching" feature that provides tips for taking better photos. If you're tired of seeing "try the night mode" or "try out portrait mode" while taking pictures, you can also turn off this feature completely, while at least as far as we know, in Camera 6.x, you are stuck with them.
As always with Pixel phones, the scale of the changes made to Camera 7.0 will probably remain obscure until you have played with the actual application. Pixel phones use artificial intelligence techniques to automatically enhance and manipulate images, and we do not yet know how much this has changed – or how much this is related to the hardware version of the phone and not to the phone.
