Brandner's home run in the eighth inning ended the Gophers' spectacular rally, giving them a 2-1 win over Georgia on Saturday in a regional NCAA softball tournament. The Gophers (43-12) fell 1-0 in the sixth inning on a goal led by Georgian Jordan Doggett, leaving little time for a return to the Jane Sage Cowles stadium.

They used Brandner's 19th game of the season, a well-chosen MaKenna Partain single in seventh, and a strong finish from Amber Fiser to win and qualify for Sunday's championship round.

Georgia (42-18) played against Drake, who beat the state of North Dakota 8-0 in five innings Saturday, in the third match of Day 2. But this match was interrupted by lightning and then suspended around 22:30. with Georgia batting at the top of the fifth inning and leading 4-2.
