Generally, the blood sucking insect is found in the warmer climates of different countries or southern states, like Texas and Arizona.
Experts say that climate change creates an ideal environment for the virus that migrates north.
The kissing virus feeds on the blood of animals or humans.
It's what's called the kissing virus because their bites are often found around the mouth.
They usually hide during the day and are very active at night and sting people in the face.
However, the real danger lies not in the bite of the kissing insects, but in its excrement.
Those who come in contact with the bedbug kiss can have flu symptoms at first, then suffer from heart disease as long as ten years later.
At the present time, experts say that there is enough reason to believe that they could be anywhere in the north, including Michigan.
However, the CDC says that there has not been a confirmed case in Michigan yet.
Kissing bugs are most commonly found under porches, in stacks of wood, or in outdoor dog kennels.
Experts say to clean these areas regularly.
Insects that kiss can hide in cracks and small crevices. Seams and cracks should be sealed around windows, doors, walls or screens to prevent them from entering.
