The Oregon Health Authority held a media availability Friday to provide an update on the COVID-19 vaccine for Oregon.

It comes after operators of the Oregon Convention Center’s mass COVID-19 vaccination site announced that the snow would force its closure on Friday and Saturday. The decision whether or not to open the site on Sunday has not yet been made.

A large vaccination site at Portland International Airport is also closed Saturday and Sunday.

About 6,000 area residents were to be vaccinated at the Convention Center on Friday and Saturday. Staff will contact anyone who had appointments to reschedule them to another date, said Brian Terrett, a spokesperson for Legacy Health, which operates the site with other regional health care providers.

Friday’s press conference included comments from Patrick Allen, director of the Oregon Health Authority, and Dr. Dean Sidelinger, public health officer and epidemiologist.
