CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) – The all-new US space capsule for astronauts is approaching the International Space Station on a test flight for SpaceX's high-stakes flight.

A Falcon rocket took off Saturday morning with the Dragon crew capsule at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The only passenger is a full-size model, named Ripley, from "Alien" movies. SpaceX has to debut in the capsule before hiring people later in the year.

The Dragon is expected to reach the space station on Sunday.

Some 5,000 spectators in Kennedy include NASA's two astronauts, Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken, who will participate in the second demonstration in July. Eight years have passed since Hurley and three other astronauts completed the last Space Shuttle mission, and launches from Florida have stopped.
