Lincoln has officially eliminated another alphanumeric name from its lineup with the new Corsair, a compact crossover that will replace the MKC. The new name, which has both nautical and aeronautical connections, follows the precedent set by the life-size Navigator and mid-size Aviator and Nautilus SUVs, making the MKZ and MKT the only remaining Lincoln cars, named by MK. The Lincoln Corsair 2020 will only make its official debut on April 17 at the New York Auto Show 2019, but we already know what to expect from this new model.

Like the MKC, the Corsair will share its fundamentals with the Ford Escape, which is expected to be re-designed. We have seen prototypes of Corsair running with very little camouflage, which shows that its frontal style resembles that of the Aviator. The flanked headlights flank a square grille with the Lincoln logo prominently displayed, while the Corsair profile shown in Lincoln's teaser image makes it look a little longer than the MKC, suggesting it might have a little more length than its predecessor. The full width taillights add a bit of interest to the rear.

Although it is likely that the MKC's 2.0-liter and 2.3-liter turbocharged engines are likely to be kept with minimal modifications, we are told that the Corsair will offer a plug-in hybrid version, as his big brother Aviator.

The Corsair will compete with European luxury SUVs such as the Audi Q5, the BMW X3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC-class. Its price could increase from the MKC's starting price of $ 34,990, at what we expect to be. technological offer.

We'll know a lot more about the Corsair soon, so stay tuned for all the details on the new crossover in a few weeks.
