The Mario Kart Tour beta does not seem to include real multiplayer races

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

The beta for Mario Kart Tower recently went to live in Japan. If you have not read our previous article, it includes the list of usual drivers and a selection of retro tracks. Races are reduced to two rounds only and the game is played vertically with touch and sweep commands.

Everything seems simple enough until you race against other players. Although the games were started before the start of each race, the team at GameXplain discovered that the next mobile version was simply capturing player profiles, which were then represented as CPUs during a race. It's a bit similar to the Toad Rally multiplayer mode in Super Mario Runwhere you have been facing the previous run of someone.

If you're still not convinced that the multiplayer mode works with Mario Kart Tour, you can even choose to skip the cutscene at the start of a race. You can also leave the game and come back to continue a race. If you were actively running against other people online and if you were doing so, you would probably be disconnected. So, in other words, there does not seem to be any correct multiplayer mode in the beta version of Mario Kart Tour. Of course, this does not necessarily mean that the final version of the game is the same.
