History was written on Friday night when West Ranch football beat Valencia 23-20 for the first time in the history of the school. Junior quarterback Ryan Staub had 295 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wildcats (5-1).
Kicker Jason Anderson’s 30-yard kickoff would prove to be the game-winner with 1:55 to go to break the tie 20-20.

West Ranch rises to the start of first place in the Foothill League. Valencia drops to 2-3 in total, 0-1 in the league.
Quarterback Agoura Ty Dieffenbach led the Chargers (5-1) to a 34-28 road victory on Newbury Park Thursday night thanks to his five touchdown passes and 364 yards.
Dieffenbach’s efforts helped orchestrate an epic comeback after Newbury Park led 21-0 with 1:37 left in the first half.
junior running back Quincy Holland led Royal to a relentless 30-27 win over Thousand Oaks with 196 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 29 carries on Friday night. Holland’s 9-yard touchdown run with less than six minutes to go ended up being the winning score as the Highlanders moved up to 4-2. Thousands Oaks fell to 4-3.
Village Christian (5-0) remained undefeated after a 61-0 loss to Maranatha in their Olympic League opener. Nate Bennett threw for 306 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for a score. Logan Everett ran 90 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan Dellutri had 152 receiving yards and two runs.
Birmingham Charter (1-5) claimed their first win of the season with a 33-0 win over Westchester. Arlis Boardingham, who received offers from Texas and USC, caught four passes for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback David Jordan-Oliveros completed 9 of 13 passes for 164 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.
It wasn’t pretty, but Birmingham Charter got the job done.

Reseda (3-2) dominated Sylmar 54-6 in Valley Mission League action thanks to his defense. The Regents had three defensive touchdowns, all in scoop and scoring form. Jason Wagner Jr. had a 52-yard punt return for a touchdown.
