Last week we reported rumors that Apple is preparing to launch a new iPad Mini. Now a juicy leak claims to have laid out the details of Apple’s next miniature tablet.
Sources believed to be familiar with the 2021 iPad mini (codenamed J310) have said 9to5Mac that the device will be “powered by Apple’s latest A15 processor, featuring USB-C connectivity and including a magnetic smart connector.”
This ties in with previous rumors that Apple will be using the same next-gen chip in both the new iPad mini and the upcoming iPhone 13 phone line, which is due out in September.
Today’s advice seems to be about the money over USB-C as well. Just last month, a bunch of leaked iPad mini-schematics appeared to confirm the connection for Apple’s upcoming slate, as well as a design based on the iPad Air (2020).
If the iPad mini 2021 Is Sporting a USB-C connection in addition to Apple’s own Lightning connection, this could open the iPad mini to a whole new world of USB-C accessories.
Finally, the new and improved iPad mini 2021 is expected to have a magnetic Smart Connector, as seen on the current iPad Air and iPad Pro, to keep the power cord in place.
Looking for a new tablet? Technical analyst Mark Gurman recently said the new iPad Mini “should be released” for release this fall.
