THE SCORE OF THE BOX
The Phillies created a split with the Braves by beating them 9 to 5 on a rainy night that featured many splits and pitchers changes.
The Phillies dominated four times, the Braves three times and 12 of the 14 combined points scored via the circuit.
Eleven relievers were used. It was a long, slow game in September.
Cesar Hernandez, Jean Segura, Adam Haseley and J.T. Realmuto each dominated and led in two races.
Hernandez started the game with a circuit for the tenth time in his career.
Segura scored his 12th of the season, tied for second place in his career.
Haseley went deep into one of the deepest parts of the park again. It has five circuits: two in the center, two in the center right and one in the center left.
Sean Rodriguez, still being booed, provided a big series of assurances with a one-point double in the ninth inning. Realmuto followed two batters later with his 25th lap to give the Phils a four-point cushion.
Hector Neris recorded four outs for his 26th stop. He allowed a deserved point in his last 22⅔ innings.
The win makes the Phillies 76-70.

The Cubs, Brewers and Mets all won Thursday afternoon. The Phillies remain two games behind Chicago and Milwaukee for second place in the wild card and are tied with the Mets.

Short departures
The two starting pitchers lasted only four innings. The Phillies have dominated Julio Teheran and the Braves on three occasions, Drew Smyly.
There was a ton of noisy contact between the two throwers – beyond the circuits, there were squashed balls, backstroke and well-hit balls in play.
Smyly scratched six. He allowed a pair of points in the first and fourth. One of them was not learned because of the mistake of Rhys Hoskins who made it to Maikel Franco to start the match.
In 10 starts with the Phillies, Smyly is 3-1 with a 4.14 ERA and 1.29 WHIP, respectable figures for a starting pitcher.
5 important outs
Jared Hughes came into play in the fifth inning and left the Braves out of balance with his lead. Faced with the top and middle of the Atlanta order, Hughes threw 1½ innings without a hit, scored two and pulled out two. He retired all three of Ronald Acuña Jr., Freddie Freeman and Josh Donaldson, not an easy task.
The right-hander helped the Phillies settle the game in the center of the heats.

The Phillies have extremely rare Friday. As a general rule, the only time they are away on a Friday is when the season starts on Thursday and they are off the next day.
After that is a two-game series against the Red Sox, which are almost eliminated from the playoffs. The Red Sox were playing 10 games in the race with wild cards when their match started Thursday night.
