Arts & Letters developed the strategy and oversaw the creative responsibilities of the CarLotz campaign.

Torx launched a digital marketing campaign to Global Surgical Shipping, a Richmond-based non-profit medical organization. The campaign aims to increase brand awareness for the organization and increase donations by engaging its target audience through social media channels and Google searches through Google’s Ad Grants program.

West Cary Group hiring Erik Mengel as head of engineering, a new function in which he will lead the agency’s engineering team. Mengel has over 25 years of experience in IT and software development at companies such as Volkswagen of America, Chrysler International, Owens & Minor and Capital One.

Xponent21 was hired as a referral agency by Impact creators. Marketing work for the local IT business will include strategy, design, execution and ongoing management of campaigns, with a focus on digital. The work will also include brand messaging and hybrid marketing event planning.

Xponent21 has hired Dennis harding as director of operations and Jillian broadwell as an accounting strategist. Harding was previously in Henrico County Public Schools and Broadwell worked at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Courtney turrin has been promoted to the position of works manager, and Chuck mccarthy has been promoted to Team Leader of Client Services.

Evergib launched a campaign for Smart Box, a Richmond-based portable moving and storage brand. The work covered branding, concept development and campaign execution, which included a 30-second commercial. Production was handled in Richmond with motion design and animation by Cream studio, sound design by Rian / Hunter production and voice over by Kera O’Bryon.

Alice Blue hiring Isaac whalen as a producer. He was most recently studio director at Rainmaker Studios.

Carlotz launched its first brand campaign under the leadership of the Chief Marketing Officer Michael chapman. The campaign was launched the first week of August with outdoor, radio and digital ads. TV, additional video content, sponsorships, local activations, influencer marketing and hub postings will follow in the coming weeks.

New York-based Noble People oversees media planning and buying, and Familiar Creatures manages social networks.

Fires hiring Michelle mead as an assistant specialist in social networks. A VCU graduate in May 2021, Mead was awarded the Barbara Fultz Fellowship for Women in Advertising at the Richmond Show last year and was part of the team behind the VCU Advertising Club. Adventure Camp in 2020 and served on its planning committee this year.

Shapes & Colors, by Jolinda worked on the brand image and a website for Lavender Hill, a commercial coworking space that recently opened in Richmond.

The Virginia Checkpoint Strike Force The campaign ran a 30-second ad which is an updated version of the ‘Act Like It’ spot that debuted in 2018. Reflecting the changing environment in 2021 with the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions and the opening of restaurants, the “man-baby” character of the road safety campaign returns to the bar, contemplating dangerous choices after drinking.
