The PlayStation 5 development kit has been confirmed by Codemasters Dev

The development kit for the next PlayStation 5 was discovered and allegedly confirmed as real.

On August 20, the Dutch technical news site Let's Go Digital released a report on a patent from Sony. The patent itself was filed on May 28 of this year at the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil, then made public on August 13. The designer is Yusuhiro Ootori, technical director of Sony.

Let's Go Digital will then update their article with additional images obtained from the development kit. You can find the images below (with the original image in the .pdf file):

The proof came from Matthew Stott, Codemasters' senior artist, who reacted to Metro's coverage of the article. In a tweet (and an account) now deleted, Stott says:

"It's a development kit that we have at the Sony desktop shows that PlayStation 5 devkit – or maybe even the console itself"

We must emphasize that development kits do not generally look like the final console. For example, here is a preview of the PlayStation 4 development kit thanks to Dufh Oficial.

A development kit is essentially a console or hardware mockup for developing software for that hardware.

In case you missed it, new console details came out in April of this year.
