The PS4 will reach 100 million units faster than the Wii – Game Rant

Players often discuss the commercial success of game consoles. Having become popular in household products in recent decades, it is interesting to note which consoles dominate the video game market. For example, the switch is currently considered a thriving console and it was said that just two months after its release would likely match the sale of the Wii. Beyond that, however, the Sony PlayStation 4 console could beat the Wii record with 100 million units sold faster than the family console.

Daniel Ahmad, senior analyst at Niko Partners, is studying trends, fluctuations and other financial aspects of the video game market, particularly in Southeast Asia. Gaming industry analyst, Ahmad has already shared other financial results, such as the fact that Anthem sold less destiny British retail. Recently, however, on Twitter, Ahmad has released a chart showing sales of various consoles after their release.

Although the results were not totally shocked, the chart compares sales of PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Wii and Switch. According to the, the Xbox 360 has proven to be the group's worst sales, with 60 million units bought six years after its release, while the PlayStation 3 has sold nearly 70 million in the same time. The first PlayStation had been delivered to nearly 80 million copies, right behind the Wii. About 95 million copies had been delivered six years earlier, reaching more than 100 million copies. The PlayStation 2 reigns however, having sold about 100 million units in its sixth year of existence on the market.

As the graph shows, the PlayStation 4 is about to exceed sales of the Wii. It should also be noted that the PlayStation 2 is sold at the same time in its life cycle. The Switch is pretty much on par with PlayStation 4 sales, although with a somewhat negative outlook suggested by Nintendo slashing switch sales forecasts, the momentum could turn in favor of the PS4.

In the end, it seems like Sony wins the day in this generation. Nintendo currently seems at a dead end, which is perhaps only temporary. In addition, this chart excludes sales on the Xbox One, but the focus seems to be on the impressive performance of the PS4.
