Netflix and Marvel have been separating for a while now. Most of this comes from a divergence of opinions on how to handle shows, especially with regards to length. Netflix knew that Marvel shows tended to dive in the middle and beyond during the season. They wanted to shorten the seasons of the Marvel shows, which would reduce costs and make them less expensive for Netflix.

For Disney, this would not happen because they felt that the loss of revenue from this transfer was counterproductive, especially since they could not use these characters for any of their other projects. Netflix finally pulled the plug first with Iron fist so what Luke Cage and Daredevilas The punisher, these cancellations were made after the last broadcast season. With Jessica Jones, this is done even before the beginning of the series.
