The rate of positive COVID-19 tests in Utah continues to rise; now accounts for over a third of all results

The percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in Utah rose slightly on Tuesday, slightly exceeding a third of the total tests administered in the past day. State health officials have said a positivity rate of 5% or less indicates the virus is under control.

The total number of positive tests was 16% higher than the seven-day moving average. And seven more coronavirus deaths have been reported, three more than Monday.

Vaccinations reported the day before / total vaccinations • 7.406 / 55.981.

Cases reported the day before • 3.318.

Deaths reported the day before • sept.

The deaths reported on Wednesday are: Two women (both aged 85) and one man (65-84) in Washington County; a man from Davis County (65-84); a man from Salt Lake County (45-64 years old); a man from Utah County (65-84); and a man from Weber County (65-84).

Hospitalizations reported the day before • 510. That’s 26 more than Monday. Of those currently hospitalized, 167 are in intensive care units – three more than Monday.

Tests reported the day before • 9.854.

Percentage of positive tests • 33.67%. This is above the seven-day average of 32.14%.

Totals to date • 288,951 cases; 1,312 deaths; 11,356 hospitalizations; 1,762,178 tests.
