The really comforting story of how Microsoft bought Double Fine

[ad_1]

With Microsoft 's acquisition of the quirky independent studio Double Fine Productions, announced at the company' s E3 2019 presentation, Microsoft now has 15 studios under its umbrella Xbox Game Studios. Although President Tim Schafer confirmed that the purchase would have no effect on how the California studio conducts business, the company turned to Twitter to satirize the news.

Schafer, in a 30 second video posted on the official account of Double Fine Twitter, basically says that Microsoft has accumulated "a lot of money" and made an offer to the team that could not refuse. The video shows all the movements of the idling head and the melodrama that would make any serial jealous.

The next game of the studio, Rad, a post-apocalyptic action game released by Bandai Namco, is due out August 20 on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Psychonauts 2 – expected in 2020 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – will be the first game of the studio released under the pseudonym Xbox Game Studios.
