The remains of more than 2,200 unborn children were found in Dr. Ulrich Klopfer's house following his death on 3 September.
A family rummaging in the property of the deceased doctor discovered the remains of Klopfer's home in Will County, Illinois, and made contact with the authorities.
The security forces confirmed that they had discovered 2,246 bodies of aborted babies who were medically preserved, but found no evidence that abortions had occurred at Klopfer.
Klopfer practiced the profession of abortion physician at the Women's Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana, but was forced to stop when his medical license was suspended in 2015 after failing to report that he had performed an abortion on a pre-teen girl.
The discovery at Klopfer's home echoes an earlier case in Philadelphia in which authorities discovered that abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell had amassed thousands of aborted children and their body parts in his clinic, which was considered by the inspectors as a "house of horrors". Gosnell was later convicted of murdering seven children and sentenced to three life sentences.
The authorities opened an investigation to find out why Klopfer was in possession of the human remains.
