Louisiana state health official Joe Kanter said the delta variant of COVID-19 still has its usual symptoms like cough, fever and shortness of breath.

However, Kanter sees many patients with symptoms that appear to be ordinary illnesses, such as sinus congestion, runny nose, and sore throat. These symptoms could be signs that patients have the delta variant, he told Audacy.
“You can have relatively mild symptoms that you can easily mistake for allergies or something that you picked up from your child who is in daycare, all of those things,” Kanter said. “If you have symptoms, even mild ones, even if it’s a sore throat, even if it’s a runny nose, even if it’s sinus congestion , go get tested, and limit your contact with other people until you do. . “
Like Change America Previously reported, according to researchers from ZOE COVID Symptom Study, excessive sneezing is also a symptom of the delta variant.
“Our data shows that people who had been vaccinated and then tested positive for COVID-19 were more likely to report sneezing as a symptom than those who had not received a vaccine,” the researchers wrote.
Change America also notes that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are about 95% effective against symptomatic COVID-19; Johnson & Johnson is around 66%.
